Successful students need outstanding teachers. Our consultants are experienced classroom teachers and school leaders who partner with schools and districts to ensure effective teaching in every classroom, for every student.

We are currently seeking educators to fill both full and part-time education consultant positions with expertise in literacy or in math. All of our consultants are potentially benefits-eligible employees of Generation Ready, not independent contractors, and are paid on a per-diem rather than salaried basis.
Responsibilities
  • Develop positive working relationships with a diverse group of teachers and administrators
  • Mentor, coach, model, provide feedback, challenge, and demonstrate reflective thinking as part of job-embedded professional development for teachers and administrators
  • Collect, analyze and use data effectively to bring about the changes in teacher practice that lead to improved outcomes for students
  • Develop and implement workshops on theory and practice in improving literacy instruction to groups of teachers, coaches, and administrators
  • Liaise and coordinate with principals and senior staff to build capacity and support positive changes in schools
  • Document work in Generation Ready’s proprietary evidence-based suite of mobile technology products
  • Generate reports for clients providing updates on progress
  • Effectively communicate with and coach clients on Generation Ready’s Essential Practices of Effective Schools

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 teaching years in the field
  • Experience with, and understanding of, socio-economically and ethnically divere student populations
  • Positive, respectful professional relationships
  • Ability to lead collaborative professional learning that results in change
  • Critical reflection on your own teaching practice and drive to continuously improve
  • Demonstrate effective literacy or math teaching practice across a wide range of classroom situations
  • Have a strong theoretical knowledge of literacy or math content and pedagogy
  • Demonstrate effective use of both formative and summative assessments in literacy or math
  • Demonstrate effective use and understanding of both Literacy or Math Common Core State Standards and those for College and Career Readiness
  • A demonstrated understanding of and experience with research-based approaches to the teaching of reading, writing, or mathematics
  • Strong presentation, communication, and coaching skills
  • A track record of success in teaching and instructional leadership
  • Commitment to using technology to support and enhance adult and student learning in literacy or math
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for ongoing professional learning
  • Proven experience in implementing balanced, constructivist literacy practices, problem based learning, a whole-part-whole model of instruction, small group instruction, differentiated lesson planning and instruction and authentic and summative assessments aligned to standards
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer use, internet navigation, and Microsoft Office applications

The USC School of Social Work is seeking a Research Associate.
This position is dedicated to the development of a specific area of research, namely peer run organizations within the mental health system. This position is critical to USC School of Social Work as it represents patient-centered outcomes research focused on the recovery of adults with serious mental health conditions, which will advance the overall research mission of the school and specific research clusters (i.e. Serious Mental Illness research cluster). This research is strategically aligned with PCORI priorities.
• Plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor.
• Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to area of specialization.
• Analyzes and evaluates research data utilizing computers and provides interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research. Searches literature, utilizing all available resources including electronic, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly.
• Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records.
